Hi! My name is Joseph Lucero. I grew up on Maui, graduated from Baldwin High School in 2000, I obtained in AA in 2012 from Leeward Community College and entered the workforce. I returned to college in 2021 in order to pursue a BA in Creative Media, and follow my passion for creating online content. If i were an artist's tool I would be the Text tool. It's one of the simplest tools on the surface, but its potential is only limited by its input. Any idea can be expressed at any location on the canvas, and that can change the context, tone, or even value of a piece of work. Sometimes the simplest medium of expression can be the most effective.
As society transitions toward a post-covid world, many people are returning to college in pursuit of broader employment opportunities. Traditional students often use internships to increase their chances at employment via the experience, networking, and practical application of skills they provide. Returning students however face an additional set of challenges and biases both in and outside the classroom as they near graduation and prepare to enter a new field. These challenges and biases have the potential to affect the desirability and efficacy of internships when a returning student is seeking to enter a new field of work. Further examination of the pros and cons of internships demonstrates that the benefits internships provide are likely to outweigh any considerations one might have against them. This analysis of internships further reveals the importance of research and application when finding an internship that aligns with one's professional goals.
The practicum is a planned, supervised, and evaluated practice experience. The goal of the practicum is to provide an opportunity for the student to synthesize, integrate, and apply practical skills, knowledge, and training learned through courses, to gain professional experience in a professional work environment, and to work on creative media projects that revolve around the research they conducted in the prior semester.
Practicum placements are individually selected and therefore, the focus, substance, and approach of the practicum will vary, depending on the studentʻs concentration and the specific interests, research goals, and professional objectives.
