Hello, My name is Cyrus Olivas. I grew up in Wahiawa and graduated from Leilehua high school. I attended Leeward Community College and then transferred here. If I was an artist's tool, I'd be an eraser. Who knows how many times I've messed up and tried to do things from scratch. Part of my journey as an artist has been understanding what parts of my work need to be redone and what things need to be scrapped entirely. I think every artist understands that mistakes can and will happen.
The research delved into the enduring influence of 2D animation within the ever-evolving landscape of visual storytelling, notably in the face of the prevailing dominance of 3D animation techniques. Beginning with a historical exploration of the profound impact of 2D animation, the study navigates through industry shifts towards 3D animation. Fundamental case studies, including Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Klaus, and Arcane, illuminate the adaptability and innovation of 2D animation techniques. The research underscores how 2D animation, despite its historical roots, continues to shape and influence the genre. It examines the symbiotic relationship between 2D and 3D animation, highlighting their combined strengths in film. Through an analysis of specific instances where 2D animation is integrated with 3D elements, such as the groundbreaking Spider-Verse and the stylistically unique Klaus, the study emphasizes the lasting impact of 2D animation on contemporary visual storytelling.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
