Hi everyone! My name is Yazmine Lacson-Garrett. I am a 22 year old graduate from James Campbell Highschool. I grew up here on Oahu, originally from Nanakuli, but moved to Ewa Beach when I was in middle school. I love to create, whether it be drawing traditionally or digitally, and I love to learn new things. I started college immediately after high school, and it's been a hardworking journey since then! There's been ups and downs but I'm proud to say I've finally made it! If I were an artist's tool, I'd probably be a brush! Like a painting brush or a blending brush. I think I'd be this because I love putting things together, piecing things, blending them, making it all come together in one big picture-- just like how a brush can create something beautiful, I too like to create things when I have the inspiration for it.

The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
