Aloha everyone, my name is Cheyane Young. I am very fortunate to have my roots planted in Hawaii, since I was born and raised on the island of Oahu. I have lived on Oahu for majority of my life, but migrated to Eugene, Oregon about 2 years ago to be close to my immediate family. I graduated from Kapolei High School and shortly after transferred to Windward Community College to complete my Associate of Art Degree. My academic journey continued when I transferred to University of Hawaii West Oahu to obtain my Bachelor of Arts Degree in General Creative Media. If I were an artist's tool, I would be a camera due to its capabilities of producing a photo that holds many meanings and purposes. There is so much truth behind the popular phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words." In the world of social media, cameras are a vital ingredient for visually showcasing and marketing brands. On the other hand, cameras can capture memories that hold emotions and life around you, which is a beautiful tool to be.

The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
