Hi, my name is Ashlynn Miyashiro. I live in Honolulu, Hawaii. I have been creating since I was a little kiddo. I taught myself how to use video editing software and would sit at my computer making videos for hours on end. I decided that I wanted to work in the film industry. Another few years later I taught myself how to use photoshop and I loved it so much that I decided I wanted to be a graphic designer instead. Although I had my dreams of working in the creative field, unfortunately, I was lead to believe that I would never make a living in the industry. So I changed my concentration to information technology… and I hated it. So I changed back to creative media and it took a while to convince myself that having a career in creative media is possible. I may not know exactly what I want to do but I know that I want to continue to be creative and help people. After graduation, I hope to continue my education to really help me find my passion. This semester, I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Media – Video game design and development. If I were an artistʻs tool, I would be SCISSORS! I like to stay SHARP and precise.
In this day and age, it is easy to discover a new service or product that claims it can solve your problems. But sympathizing and creating solutions are not always enough to design meaningful experiences. I believe that prior to creating relevant solutions, you must first empathize with your target demographic. Once a developer is able to empathize and feel with their users, rather than feel for them, then they are able to create effective and long lasting products.
