Hello, My name is Samuel Adams and I'm a Creative Media Student here at UH-West Oahu. I was born here in Hawaii and have lived in Mililani since I was a child. My High School I attended was Mililani High School and graduated under class of 2019. Since September 2019 I have been a UH West O‘ahu Student. If I was an artist's tool, I wouldn't know. I wouldn't know because even with all of the things that I have learned (Screenwriting, photography, storytelling, filming, editing) the projects I have made and the passions I have felt, It still feels like I have so much more to learn and I won't really know what kind of tool I am until I find it myself.
Film is an important art form and medium that we regularly consume. Since its origins in the 1880s with the invention of the Kinetoscope camera by Thomas Edison and William Kennedy Dickson, film has evolved significantly into the media we enjoy today. From the advent of CGI in movies like "Star Wars" and "Tron" to Netflix's streaming services to films addressing social change, the film industry has undergone major innovations that have shaped our society. This essay explores film's evolutions from past to present and their impacts, arguing that preserving this living history can inspire future generations. By understanding how film has progressed over time into an integral part of our lives, we can appreciate its role as both art and history.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
