Hey everyone! My name is Joshua Cid. I was born and raised in Waianae. I love spending time with family and friends! But of course playing video games, and going to the gym are some of my favorite things to do. As a resident of Waianae I attended Waianae High School while doing a couple special school programs and playing sports as well. I was part of the schools creative media program, Searider Productions, which is actually where I learned that I loved making art. In addition to that I also did a early college program that led me to doing my first year of college at Leeward Community College. But eventually I transferred and became a full time student at UH West Oahu to pursue my passion for design and creative media. If I were an artist's tool, I think I would a pencil! With this I'm able to live life simple, but at the same time I'm able draw or write anything I want. I can draw my ideas, I can accomplish almost everything, but most importantly I can write my own future. Anything can be done when it comes to the good old pencil! haha.
Clinical professionals have seen mental health grow over the years, and that leaves them with the conclusion of seeing mental health as a serious medical problem. This paper discusses the research of the creative remedy, art therapy, that empowers individuals to regain a sense of control and integrate fragmented parts of themselves into a more cohesive whole. Furthermore, over the years since 1930, there has been a growing body of research that has been gathered and analyzed to show the benefits and the short and long-term results of art therapy. The research of many writers and clinical professionals such as Malchiodi have shown the trials of testings and studies that have come to many conclusions involved around one thing, that art therapy is not only a way to express and explore trauma narratives but also a way to to regain a sense of control and mastery, improve functioning, and reconstruct and restore the self. This statement demonstrates how the use of art therapy can change the lives of many individuals dealing with mental illnesses all over the world. It further reveals how there's much more than just communicating our feelings through making art, the therapy is here to bring positive impacts to the world for years to come and research has proven this.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
