This research challenged the conventional perception that video games are solely a leisure activity for the youth, rather than an effective learning tool. It explores the relationship between playing video games and the development of desirable skills, such as visual and attentional skills. The study argues that this relationship is not limited to a single type of video game, but encompasses various game genres including FPS, RTS, MMO, RPG, and Action Adventure. The research seeked to identify the specific skills that video games assist in acquiring, as well as how these skills can be further developed using video games. It also examines the potential for game developers, employers, and educators to utilize this relationship between gaming and learning to further develop valuable skills. The study concludes that video games can be an effective learning tool and that further research is needed to fully understand the potential benefits of gaming for skill development.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
