Hi! My name is Cheyna Hess. I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania, and attended high school there. After graduating, I attended a couple years of community college before deciding to move to Hawaii and transfer to University of Hawaii - West O'ahu. Now I'm in my final semester and looking forward to what the future holds! If I was an artist's tool, I would be a paintbrush, because I enjoy designing and using a variety of different mediums and colors to create those designs.
Social media has caused negative health effects in its users. One of these negative effects is the impact on a user’s perception of time. Time perception is typically warped while using social media and may even affect users who are addicted, even outside of using social media. The research covered the definitions of time, perception, and social media, as well as social media addiction, formatting, consumer response, and how these factors can change our brain over time. The research concluded with case studies that provide evidence of social media negatively affecting users’ perception of the passage of time. Time perception is among many other ways that social media can impact a person’s brain health and psyche, and it should be further researched to raise awareness and protect social media consumers.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
