Iʻm Jonnalyn Alves. I was born on the island of O‘ahu, Hawaiʻi. I was raised in Kalihi Valley and later on moved to Mililani. I graduated from Saint Francis, attended Honolulu Community College for Communication Arts, studied abroad at University of Niigata Prefecture for one year, and then transferred to UH West O‘ahu. I would be a sketch pad because I like to write and draw my ideas out first (even the bad ones) before starting on my actual designs.
Movements encourage people to take action. An individual’s or group’s motivation to encourage social movements can come to fruition with outcomes in communities. From the research gathered regarding the type of social movements at different levels, we can better comprehend the joining and/or dividing of individuals within society depending on the type of social issue involved. Through the process of examining and discussing social movements from a psychological and social perspective, the research looked at motivation, the different levels of movements from micro to meso, the types of prosocial and antisocial social movements that have sparked uprisings within communities, with the focus on the sustainability movement in Hawaiʻi.
The practicum is a planned, supervised, and evaluated practice experience. The goal of the practicum is to provide an opportunity for the student to synthesize, integrate, and apply practical skills, knowledge, and training learned through courses, to gain professional experience in a professional work environment, and to work on creative media projects that revolve around the research they conducted in the prior semester.
Practicum placements are individually selected and therefore, the focus, substance, and approach of the practicum will vary, depending on the studentʻs concentration and the specific interests, research goals, and professional objectives.
