Hi! My name is Hannah Clark. Raised in Waipahu by my Filipino mother and grandparents, I am a proud graduate of Waipahu High School. Since the Summer of 2017, I have been attending the University of Hawaii West Oahu. I was studying for my BA in English, but I switched to General Creative Media in Spring 2019. If I was an artist's tool, I would be a thread! It comforts me to think of the Lord's plan as an intricate rug, where I am a tiny yet valuable strand that uniquely contributes to His bigger, beautiful, & complete work of art! :)
A child's virtual playground can be an online predator's hunting ground. In a society that has normalized sexual immorality, where non-committal hook-up culture has replaced God-centered nuclear families and where women refuse to be objectified unless they financially profit from it on subscription-based platforms like OnlyFans, young adolescents are constantly encountering adults online who disregard the law and morality for their own X-rated desires. To help protect children from child predators, I sought to understand how the younger generation uses social media and the internet, how their household relationships may affect their interaction with online communities, the most effective way for technology to provide them with information, and what kind of brand identity the youth respond well to. Through the creation of a mobile app that educates the younger generation about online dangers while also providing incentives for learning, my research found that usability testers appreciated the minimal design of my brand, which was able to stand out without distracting the user from the valuable information. By utilizing a mobile app that provided resources and educated users on how to report predatory behavior, we are able to promote safe internet use and equip the next generation to be victorious over the culture war that eagerly tries to involve children in long-term harmful matters.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
