My name is Gabriel Supnet. I was born and raised in Pearl City here on the island. I am a 2016 graduate of Damien Memorial School, and transferred here to UH West Oahu from Leeward Community College. If I were an artistʻs tool, I think I would be a roll of film in a camera, because I like to capture moments that have made an impression on me and share it with others.
The reason behind why humans care for the environment has been an elusive topic that often has not been thoroughly researched. This paper will take a closer look at how the psychological concept of motivation has spurred humans into action, specifically actions regarding the environment. Real examples of care and neglect to the environment caused by motivation are discussed, as well as the human nature of proactivity versus reactivity. Findings show that there is a combination of incentives for humans to care for the environment, ranging from learned behavior, personal character, and societal incentives. The findings of this paper are necessary to understand if one wants to motivate people to help the environment.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
