Hi, my name is Stephan Bradley. I grew up in Brazil, for the most part in a small town called Caravelas and them in Salvador, before moving to Hawaii in 2015. I graduated from Kapiʻolani Community College in 2018, getting my AS degree in New Media Arts with Interface Design concentration, and transferred to UHWO a couple years later. My creative specialization is graphic design, my main hobbies are board games (absolutely not like monopoly) and the rhythm arcade Pump It Up. If I were an artistʻs tool, I think I would be a drawing compass: I'm usually meticulous over small details such as matching values down to the decimal, and perfectly overlapping lines and anchor points; but sometimes slips during execution and misses bigger details.
The research started as a study in the value of branding to improve public transport and increase ridership. More specifically, looking at environmental graphic design (EGD) under the hypothesis that "Better signage, founded on a relatable and engaging branding, can help improve the usability of public transport and further entice new riders." The project pivoted from project based capstone to a practicum to redesign the 2024 FestPAC website (with the lens of user experience, which in a broader perspective encompasses my initial research about usability), the question shifted from User Interface (instead of EGD) as the medium and usability broaden to a sense of navigating spaces.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
