Iʻm Vance! I grew up in both Kapolei and Pearl City throughout my life. I've attended and graduated from Kapolei High School. I transferred from Leeward Community College after receiving my Associates. If I were an artistʻs tool, I would be the pencil, as casual as it may sound I like to focus on every detail of the entire picture.
During the spring of 2022 I was looking for a job in photography. One interviewer noticed I lightly volunteered at Pearlside’s Media Team on my resume. It was there that I realized what my core objective for my Practicum would be “experience”. So, I wanted to get more involved with the media team’s projects to see if I could get experience in filming since they had up to date equipment. Learning if they follow the same methods of filming that I have and more. I also wanted to compare their filming methods to other church media groups from separate campuses. By the end I want to find out if other film students can get experience in filming by volunteering or working for the media team from Pearlside Church.
The practicum is a planned, supervised, and evaluated practice experience. The goal of the practicum is to provide an opportunity for the student to synthesize, integrate, and apply practical skills, knowledge, and training learned through courses, to gain professional experience in a professional work environment, and to work on creative media projects that revolve around the research they conducted in the prior semester.
Practicum placements are individually selected and therefore, the focus, substance, and approach of the practicum will vary, depending on the studentʻs concentration and the specific interests, research goals, and professional objectives.
