My name is La'Sheka "Lue" WalkerI am a 28 year old Army veteran. I was born in Monroe, Louisiana and raised in Bastrop, Louisiana. I attended Bastrop High School, where I graduated from in 2012. Two months after graduation, I went to basic training and was eventually stationed in Hawai'i in March 2013. While in the Army, I began my college career, online, at UMUC in 2013. After only taking a few classes, I took a hiatus in 2016. Upon return, I began studying at Leeward CC in January 2018. I graduated from Leeward in May 2020 with my Associate of Science in Information & Computer Science. I, then, transferred to UHWO for the Fall 2020 semester and changed my major to Creative Media. This semester I will be graduating with my BA in Creative Media with a concentration in Communications and New Media Technologies. If I were an artistʻs tool, I believe I would be the canvas because the possibilities of what an artist can put on a canvas are endless. You can work until you bring your vision alive. I believe that I am a canvas that is being worked on and the end result will be an amazing masterpiece beyond expectation.
Video games can provide mental stimulation, emotional stabilization, emotional resilience, stress relief, and an escape from mental health issues for many people, as well as young children and adolescents as long as it is done in moderation (WebMD, 2020). However, video games can also have a negative effect on the mental health of young children and adolescents. There has been a debate going back multiple decades between those who believe that video games are more of a harm than benefit to children and the community and those who believe that video games either benefit or provide no significant negative effects to children and the community. This project analyzed video games’ introduction into existence, potential positive and negative effects of video games, why these effects are considered harmful or beneficial, and any situational factors that must be considered when conducting these analyses (i.e. child’s living environment, mental status, etc.) to determine whether video games have more positive or negative effects on the world’s children.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
