Hi :) My name is Nicole Lacuesta. I was born in the Philippines and moved to Hawai'i in 2007. I was raised in Ewa Beach most of my life and moved to Pearl City in 2020. I graduated from James Campbell High School in 2017 and currently attending UH West O'ahu where I started as a Humanities major. However I switched over to Creative Media as I felt that there were more opportunities for me to challenge myself for my passion in designing. If I were an artist's tool, I would be a film camera because it lets my imagination and creativity capture moments that are unforgettable.
To develop an idea, one must follow the creative process, a series of stages that implement and refine a concept. This process is utilized in various creative industries such as art, design, music, and literature. Each creative process may differ and requires a unique approach to identify the most effective techniques. The study will focus on the design characteristics and the creative process stages of discovery, research, brainstorm, sketch, design, present, and deliver. Creativity is essential to solving problems and producing original work, and this paper aims to explore the origin of the creative process, its connection to creativity, and the importance of each stage's structure.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
