I grew up in Mililani, Hawaii and graduated from Mililani High School in 2019. After graduating I went to UH West Oahu to learn more about graphic design. It was also a opportunity for me to explore and enjoy other mediums of creative media. If I were an artist tool, my first thought would be a digital pen. With digital art, what you can create is only limited by your imagination. For me, I like to try out many different things to see how far my imagination and creativity can take me.
With the rise of social media, the number of victims suffering with negative body image of themselves has amplified. Media is often shown in an unrealistic light, warping the idea of what’s considered beauty. The result leads to many people desperately trying to change their image and ending up with severe health issues. Low self esteem and negative self imagery are problems deeply rooted in a person's mentality. It takes time and effort to undo a problem, but being aware can help prevent these negative situations from occurring. By sharing the knowledge of body image over social media, it’ll help set the stage for a more positive change.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
