My name is Binh. I’m a first-generation college student who grew up in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, and graduated from Maynard Evans High School in Orlando, Florida—one of the state’s high-risk schools at the time, before it went through major changes. After high school, I enlisted in the United States military, where I gained discipline, resilience, and a strong sense of structure. Eventually, I made the decision to pivot into an entirely new path—one rooted in creativity, storytelling, and design. I didn’t come from a traditional college background, and instead of transferring from a community college, I started from scratch in a completely different industry. That journey pushed me to build everything from the ground up, to adapt, overcome self-doubt, and commit fully to learning and growth. It's also what fuels my passion for helping other students build confidence through creative media.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
