Hey, my name is Caleb Brown. I am from Kahaluu and have lived in the same area for most of my life, I am a 2019 Castle graduate, and I came from Windward Community College to pursue creative media of all types since its the the subject that interest me the most. Uh An artist tool? Can I say that I'm not really a traditional artist tool for painting but more of an artist tool int he works of Video editors specifically the cut tool. I tend to cut a lot of thigs short just like in my own video work.
This project examines game development and artificial intelligence, with a focus on the role of Large Language Models (LLMs) in facilitating game creation. Specifically, it examines how tools like ChatGPT and Lua scripting in Roblox contribute to accessible and creative game development for both novice and experienced developers. The study also investigates the broader implications of integrating LLMs into development workflows and how Roblox serves as a unique platform for experimenting with AI-assisted programming and design.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
For his senior capstone, Caleb Brown built an original social-experience game in Roblox as a way to explore the role of AI as a creative tool in game development. Drawing from his research on AI-assisted workflows and his own early experiences coding in Lua, Caleb designed the game’s world, models, and core mechanics—including multi-jump movement, randomized item interactions, and coin-spawn systems—while using ChatGPT as both a brainstorming partner and debugging resource. His project reflects not only the challenges of scripting and world-building from scratch, but also the ways AI can extend a developer’s vision rather than replace it. In the end, Caleb’s work demonstrates how emerging developers can blend creativity, technical problem-solving, and AI-guided support to bring an interactive game concept to life.
