This past Friday night, Dedham High School's Best Buddies Club organized a special event as the Dedham High School Unified Basketball Team took on the Dedham Police Department in an exciting match.
The night kicked off with the Unified senior night, celebrating seniors Lucy Blazejewski, Lily Burton, Areti Tiglianidis, Anthony Bartletta, Sophia Coleman, Luke Ryan, and Amanda Ferhani. The seniors were celebrated with flowers and a gift presented by their teammates.
The ceremony was MC’d by Angelina Musto and Sarah Walsh. Adding to the school spirit, many Dedham High School teams and teachers came out in support, including members of the field hockey and football teams, along with enthusiastic Dedham High cheerleaders cheering on the sidelines. These sports teams gave the gymnasium a positive and exciting atmosphere for the unified basketball team!
The Best Buddies Club also ran concessions and T-shirt sales to organize a raffle with over 20 prizes for lucky winners. These winners received gift cards, baskets, and many other wonderful prizes. The halftime entertainment included a shooting competition amongst the Dedham High Cheer coach and a fan.
Throughout the game, the Best Buddies team dominated. Up and down the court, they consistently scored baskets and made impressive moves against the Dedham Police. They also wouldn’t give the Dedham Police a chance, they played stellar defense, stealing the ball and defending baskets for the entire duration of the game.
The game itself ended in a fantastic score of around 95-9 in favor of DHS. Overall, the night was a memorable celebration of sportsmanship and teamwork. This game was the perfect way to celebrate the DHS seniors who have dedicated their time to the team!
