Stone Dwarf Racial Traits

    • Stone dwarves have a toughness that impresses even other dwarves, but they focus their metal energy on survival. +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence

    • Medium-sized: As medium-sized creature, lowland dwarves have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.

    • Stone dwarf base speed is 20, and they can move at this speed even if they are wearing medium or heavy armor, or if they are carrying a medium or heavy load.

    • Darkvision: Stone dwarves can see inthe dark up to 90 ft. Darkvision is only black and white, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and needs no light to function.

    • Stuncunning: Stonecunning grants Stone Dwarves a +2 racial bonus on checks to notice unusual stonework, such as sliding walls, stonework traps, new construction, unsafe stone surfaces, shaky stone ceilings, and the like. Something that is not stone but that is disguised as stone also counts as unusual stonework. A Stone Dwarf who merely comes within 10 feet of unusual stonework can make a check as if he were actively searching and a Stone Dwarf can use the search skill to find stonework traps as a rogue can. A Stone Dwarf can also intuit depth, sensing his approximate depth underground as normally as a human can sense which way is up. Stone Dwarves have a sixth sense about stonework, an innate ability that they get plenty of opportunity to practice and hone in their underground homes.

    • Weapon Familiarity: Stone dwarves receive no weapon familiarity, for their remote living habits make them less picky about their weapon of choice.

    • Stability: Dwarves are exceptionally stable on their feet. A dwarf gains a +4 bonus on ability checks made to resist being bull rushed or tripped when standing firmly on the ground.

    • Stone dwarves are adept in confined spaces, and small, quick weapons are easiest to use in such circumstances. +1 racial bonus when attacking with a light weapon.

    • +2 racial bonus when using the Climb, Hide, Move Silently or Search Skills underground. Generations of avoiding races such as dark elves and mind flayers have taugh them to avoid even these perceptive creatures.

    • +1 racial bonus on attacking rolls when fighting dark elves, troglodytes, mind flayers, and grimlocks. Stone dwarves train in special combat techniques that allow them to fight their traditional enemies more effectively.

    • Giants don't thrive in tight underground tunnels, and stone dwarves have no experience fighting these creatures. Stone Dwarves have no racial bonus when fighting giants.

    • +4 racial bonus on Craft checks related to stone, Stone dwarves are especially capable with stonework.

    • Skirmisher: When wearing light armor and using two light weapon, a stone dwarf is considered to have Ambidexterity feat, whether he actually has the feat or not. The small tunnels and caverns of the stone dwarves make shields ungainly and hard to use effectively, and stone dawrves seek to end melee quickly by bringing down their feos.

    • Stonebones: A stone dwarf receives the Stonebone feat for free. As cave dwellers, stone dwarves are hardy and resistant. Surface-dwelling dwarves with this feat probably have some stone ancestors. +1 natural AC bonus.

    • Automatic Languages: Dwarven and Undercommon. Bonus Languages: Draconic, Gnome and terran.

    • Favored Class Rogue. When deciding whether this character suffers an XP penalty for multiclassing, a multiclass stone dwarf's rogues class not apply.
