Water will be a critical resource on Mars. Humans drink it and use for
washing and cooking. Water could be decomposed into hydrogen and
oxygen. It is important for breathing and making a rocket fuel.
There are no rivers and oceans on the Red Planet today but it is
possible to find an ice in a Martian soil. We are trying to simulate
future searching and extracting water on Mars here, at MDRS.
Our geologist Petr Romanov took samples of soil, analyzed them and
evaporated water from them. We will present results of his experiment
in near future. And may be even drink a glass or at least spoon of
evaporated water. :)
