Crew physical status: No issues, 1 crew member still has a cold but waning.
Time departed/returned from EVA: #1 1414/1600
Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results:
EVA #1; Lisa Stewart Commanding/Scientist, Habib Palenfo XO/HSO; Dan Wilcox Nav/Steno: A pedesetrian EVA 1 km north of the Hab to collect different colour clay samples including Bentonite for analysis. GPS directional tracking, waypoint logging and navigation to specific waypoints were incorporated within the EVA scenario.
Engineering/Hab maintenance: Daily engineering checks completed. All normal.
Packages delivered to the Hab: none
Plans for tomorrow: No crew EVA’s planned. Crew rest day (DFD). General duties as required.
Support requests: None
Miscellaneous: After 8 days of continuous sim, I’ve noticed that the crew are getting tired and slowing down in their daily actions. I now have designated tomorrow as a DFD. “Duty Free Day”. This means it's been a very hectic week for us here. So tomorrow, day 9, I'm giving my crew a break from any formal mission activities, ie; EVA trips etc. The crew will be free to have their own personal time to sleep or email friends and family or whatever they wish, staying in-sim of course. In the evening we might play a board game or watch a DVD or just sit around and chat/whatever? Condensed crew reports will still be issued, but in no great detail but we will still issue a report for Mondays EVA(s) etc.
Note: Todays EVA pointed out that there is a need to apportion crew duties better, i.e.; one does all the Navigation; another does GPS waypoint logging/photographing and the other sample collecting etc. So, tonight, as part of an active mission day, we as a crew will sit down and tighten up our procedures for Mondays EVA(s).
I’ve also briefed my crew that on this coming Tuesday, a film crew will be arriving for approximately one day. The crew is to remain IN-Sim and duties will continue with minimal disruption.
Crew spirits remain high and I have no complaints with them whatsoever.
Mission support, on behalf of Crew 119, thanks to all involved.
