Purpose:
sampling gypsum near factory butte on two separate location.
Narrative:
Today we (Csilla, Hans, Melissa and me) started our most distant EVA,
which made it necessary to use the pressurized Rover. We made our way
towards factory butte and entered another canyon for sampling gypsum.
We first were scouting the area for reasonable sampling sites,
discovering exposed layers of an progressive age the further we went
into the canyon. We were able to take a number of samples, while also
making a lot photo-documentation of the area.
After having received a sufficient amount of samples, we began heading
north towards a location where gypsum crystals are just lying in a
randomly distributed manner on the surface. The goal was to sample
large crystals, which could - hopefully - contain samples of life. I
had the honor ob sampling the majority of crystals.
Afterwards we headed back towards the Hab which tooks us about an hour.
