Night 7:
Last night was still a beautiful one. The sky was greatly clear and
there was no cloud for Benoît’s birthday! So we aligned easily
Arcuturus and Betelgeuse. Then we did rapidly our calibration with
Sirius, Capella, Pollux and Mizar. We plugged the CCD and focused it
on Alnitak and Betelgeuse. After that we tracked and took shots of the
Orion Nebula. Then we quickly tried to grab Jupiter with the Moon
filter of the CCD. We tracked also some clusters before beginning a
long session time on Moon. Finally we finished by taking Saturn. The
only issue encountered during our night 7 was another double tracking
that we already experienced when we tried to track the Great Cluster
during our night 6.
List of grabbed and tracked objects:
Stars: Alnitak, Betelgeuse, Mizar
Planets and satellites: Jupiter with its 4 biggest satellites, Moon, Saturn
Clusters: The cluster salt and pepper in the Auriga constellation (M37
– NGC2099), M22 (NGC6656)
Nebulae: Orion Nebula (M42 – NGC1976), Bode Nebula (M81 – NGC3031)
