EVA Number:
6
EVA Date:
01/10/13
Time Slot:
earlyPM
Purpose:
The particular location was chosen today because it was strongly recommended by the last EVA crew to go here. The crew from today intended to collect more samples of rocks and soils different from those collected by the last crew.
Narrative:
The area known here as location 1 is at UTM 12S 0518182 E 4249400 N. Location 1 was explored on 1/8/13 by a different EVA crew. The film crew came on this date and enjoyed seeing what they found closer up with a microscope.
When the EVA crew walked towards location 1 they were surprised to see a lot of green rocks. There was one very thin, yet extremely tall mountain that was made up of only clay. Once the crew arrived, they were impressed by how much snow and ice that maintained after such a long time. One crewmember loved the landscape the most. He climbed to the top of one mountain next to the road, and says that the view he had was the most memorable part of the trip. This was a great area to take pictures for showing off to friends and family.
They crew left location 1 after about 20 minutes. Although the EVA members knew exactly how to get back to the Hab, they took their time walking along the road. There were millions of gorgeous rocks to look at beside the path. One crewmember had to climb his last large hill before returning to the flat lands of Florida.
This was the best location to have the last EVA of our rotation. Two out of the seven members on this trip got to see this location and found the best souvenirs at location 1. The rocks were the most beautiful here and the pictures taken are most impressive.

Wp1 Find:
There were a lot of different colors and textures of soil found at location 1. There were rocks of different colors concentrated below the larger rocks. The land not covered by boulders was still hidden in snow and frozen mud. The surface of the mountains above was covered in loose clay rather than boulders and smaller rocks.
