Date: 22 Dec 201
Written by: John Reynolds
Crew physical status: All are well, but very disappointed in the weather conditions.
Time departed/returned from EVA: #1 None
Time departed/returned from EVA: #2 None
Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results:
EVA #1
EVA #2
Engineering/Hab maintenance: No issues today with the hot water system. I personally checked the hot water flow at 04:00 this morning.
Packages delivered to the Hab: None
Plans for tomorrow: A 4 person pedestrian eva to Teetering rock area going counterclockwise from the Hab ending up in an area close to possible petrified tree stumps found on earlier eva’s. This is a rescheduled EVA from earlier non-operational EVA’s due to weather and ground state.
Support requests: None
Miscellaneous: The film crew did an internal film of the crew going through an EVA planning briefing. All crew were in attendance. This planning preparation exercise is for possible future EVA location sites to maximize our remaining rotation time when weather considerations permit. Weather forecasts are not looking too favorable within the next few days. Alternate planning is being considered to get the science team outside and doing science. Spirits remain high and the crew is doing an amazing job of public outreach when not doing their daily chores. Astronomy also remains a major focus within this crew rotation and every opportunity to view the night sky is a high priority when conditions permit. Temperatures have been as low as -1 degree F and usually in the single digit figures at night/early morning. So hats off, or is it gloves off to the Astronomy team, Diane Turnshek and Nora Swisher.
