Astronomy Report 15 Feb. 2013
Crock, Paula
I’ve had one night at the observatory so far, which was mainly spent getting the equipment set up. The main scope and finder scope were not aligned so I spent some time correcting that problem. To confirm the alignment I did some observations of Jupiter and then took a look at the moon. With the main scope and finder scope aligned I plan to try a star calibration tonight to find out whether that part of the system is working normally and if so will try to image a few deep sky objects. Unfortunately we were on the wrong side of the planet to see 2012 DA14.
The observatory equipment (aside from the ccd camera which I haven't used yet) is working well.
