Snow Day
We started the day off a little later at 7:40 and with music from our
Chemist, Tegan & Sara and some
others. This is great soft wake up music to start the day. We also
woke up to another surprise,
snow! The white that covers the Martian landscape is beautiful. And of
course we had another epic
breakfast with cinnamon rolls, that I made, and our other usual’s like
fresh coffee, oatmeal,
cereal, and others.
After breakfast we planned the day out and got started. The morning
eva was our chemistry eva and
was led by our Chemist Kyle. They went to Candor Chasua and collected
white rock and water samples
to test for bacteria. They also went to Big Rock to test for
radioactive as a possible future fuel
source for other missions.
While they were gone the reporter on the eva we talked to Steven Law,
Science and Feature Writer for
KSL TV (Salt Lake City). Liz, Jennifer, and I answered all kinds of
questions that he had and we all
echoed the same thing: that this is such an amazing opportunity to
show everyone how important
simulation is and that Mars needs to make its way into the headlines
and be explored in person.
After the report left Liz make homemade bread and some awesome
broccoli and cheddar and rice soup
for dinner.
Then the others returned from the eva and we all had dinner. In the
afternoon, we had to call off
the planned eva because it started to snow again. So for the rest of
the afternoon we worked on our
research projects. We had the same soup for supper as well.
It was another beautiful day on Mars, just really cold and snowy. We
did a team building activity
after supper to get to know one another more.
Until next time,
Journalist,
James
