March 13th,
We had a small disco party in the Hab yesterday! It might be because
of that and the exercise we did
earlier that everyone went to bed early. We are all well rested
(average of 9 hours) but fatigue may
be accumulating. Well, beds aren't that bad if you have a good cushion.
Today's nice walnut batch of bread was baked by Monica. Andrea and
Monica did our first long distance
EVA, using the ATVs to go to dream like places, avoiding obstacles and
simulating rescue missions.
They also confirmed that what seemed to be a lake and a river was dry.
Maybe there really was life on
Mars? The expedition crew reported that there were many muddy places
along the road, which was the
perfect formula for a messy trip. We had some good results with DAM
using bluetooth and started
building the stretcher adapter for our other project as a rescue team.
We had a close encounter with
aliens!!! (more than campers touring around the desert) and our XO
explaining to them that we were
working on a device to measure 'water humidity' (it was meant to be
weather). That was better than
Saturday's Night Shows. After that encounter, the solitude of this red
planet felt somewhat like
living on Solaria, secluding ourselves from the rest of the Galaxy
while maintaining the only means of
communication: the always helpful and caring Mission Support. Days are
starting to get warmer by the
day. Spring time on Mars! We hope everyone is doing well back at home!
