More GreenHab work was done today, expanding plant cultivation, and
also placing herb cuttings inside the hab. The last herbs in the
GreenHab, parsley and thyme, had to be thrown away after it became
clear they would not recover. The same plant pot with its soil was
used to plant 'spicy mix' sprouts grown by Crew 121 in an Easy Sprout
container. in spite of the fact that seeds and sprouts in the Easy
Sprout containers were decomposing at the beginning of our crew
rotation, many of the sprouts seems viable still – even a week later.
An additional tray was started with Persian cress and placed on top of
the seed starting heat mat. Yesterday the fan thermostat in the back
room of the GreenHab was accidentally set to 80°F by Simon Engler
during engineering checks. Today at 3:30pm it was reset to 70°F. Jean
Hunter sent a box with herb cuttings. These were planted in tin cans
and a long container using rooting powder. All cuttings were placed
inside the hab where the temperature regime is higher and more stable.
All plants inside the GreenHab and hab were watered, except the 4
trees.
