March 11th,
Yesterday we had a clear starry night. The amount of stars tilting in the darkness of dusk made us
aware that we are just tiny beings exploring another planet. One of those shiny lights must be Earth,
and someone back at home must be watching the same Orion's Belt we watched last night.
Dawn came with smell of freshly made Oatmeal bread made by Eiji. Getting ready for a full engineering
day, we ate, yet again, scrambled eggs with bacon cooked by Andrea, BUT with the addition of newly
discovered instant oatmeal. Quite a delightful breakfast. However, the fragrance of the bread made us
feel like being in Hunger Games, because we could not resist having a "small" brunch. We spent the day
in front of our laptops, working on our data acquisition project, watering the plants and listening to
music. As sneaky as Curiosity landing on Mars, hunger struck again and we stopped for lunch. Although
most of the crew wanted spaghetti with asparagus sauce, which could not be found, Monica prepared
fettuccine pesto sauce with dehydrated grounded meat. Concerned about the amount of water spent
already, we decided to wash the dishes only at night with minimal liquid consumption. Of course,
without neglecting drinking lots of water. Then, continued to work on the project a.k.a. Barsoom (i.e.
Mars' name in John Carter series) and took some serious/artistic pictures. You could call this day a
Hunger Day!
