Commander Report
02/12/2013
Kent Nebergall
As of noon we are officially in-sim and have one in-sim EVA.
I’m pleased to report that we have a functional indoor facility as of
this morning. A honey wagon pumped out the 1250 gallon septic,
as well as backflow from the field. He also pumped out the PVA in the event we need a backup again.
We finalized a sample/image/location/documentation methodology and
tested it in the field. April, Dennis, Ase, and Audrey did our
first in-sim EVA to Hab Rim and gathered over 20 documented samples. We will start formal lab tests of samples tomorrow morning, with
a local EVA for the rest of the crew tomorrow afternoon. This will
be local to train the rest of the crew on the in-sim methodology and
to support the University Rover Challenge site documentation.
Paula repaired the remaining two backpacks and a damaged charger, so
all six spacesuit backpacks and the chargers working again.
Thanks to this effort, we can evenly distribute our EVA time so that
EVA opportunities if the weather and equipment hold out.
