General Engineering Notes/Comments:
1) EVA packs 1 and 3 had blown fuses (pack 1 blew the fuse twice). I
replaced them with new ones from the 3amp small fuse five-pack in the
EVA room, there are only two of them left so we need to get more (NAPA
PN: 782-1126 ATM-3).
2) EVA packs 1 and 2 charging ports failed. Pack 1 had a short circuit
in the male connector due to poor cable soldering; I de-soldered the
connector and soldered it properly, the pack is back in operation. The
positive pin on pack 2's charging port was not making contact with the
female connector on the charger cable, I de-soldered the cable and
soldered it to the other unused positive pin on the connector, pack 2 is
back in operation.
3) All EVA packs are now charging and working properly.
4) The charging ports on every pack are in poor conditions and are
prone to fail. I strongly recommend replacing the charging ports with
more robust and durable ones. The current ones have been damaged by
people forcing them in without aligning the polarity pin. A
rectangular geometry might be less vulnerable to
damage by mishandling.
5) I strongly recommend to change the current fuses on the EVA packs
by push to reset circuit breakers than can be reset from the side of
the pack.
6) DG came today to change the oil in the diesel generator and took
the trailer water tank for a refill; we now have a full trailer water
tank.
It was a fun day of stuff breaking at the Hab! Four crew members went
on an ATV EVA, the ATVs worked flawlessly. Greetings from Mars!
