Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results: EVA #1 Dan Wilcox Commanding, Habib Palenfo XO. Mission plan was for a 4 duration EVA to complete unfinished earlier road survey. Road usability survey, photo road mapping, NAD27 waypoint plotting and rock sample collection for Hab study and crew education.
EVA#2: John Reynolds Commanding, Lisa Stewart XO. Short duration , short distance pedestrian eva due East of Hab to study rock formation(s) and initial rock sample collection. We can confirm this site is for future longer duration EVA missions.
Engineering/Hab maintenance: Suit helmets repairs completed to internal vents plus temporary new vent system to eliminate helmet fogging, partially successful and normal engineering checks. We had a planned engineering/IT/satellite crew arrive late afternoon from off sight. They very considerate of our sim and behaved accordingly. A window latch was replace with minimal disruption, Sat dish replaced and upgrade to the internal internet Sat system was completed. HALp system upgrade took place, plus a quick over view was given to me and the crew.
Packages delivered to the Hab: None
Plans for tomorrow: After a few days of ATV EVA’s and in consultation with rest of the crew, we’ve decided tomorrow would be just Pedestrian EVA’s. The reason being, you are much closer to the action and can be much more selective in what you see and in sample collection. I mention a little ditty to my crew over the course of this sim; “It’s not the distance you cover, but what you cover over that distance”. So foot traffic it is!
EVA #1 Lisa Stewart Commanding Scientist, John Reynolds XO/HSO; direction due east, longer distance EVA than today and in duration. Time: 2:30 Distance over 2.5km Mission plan: close observation and sample collection for further analysis.
EVA# 2 Habib Palenfo Commanding/engineer, Dan Wilcox XO/ Photo journalist, Paula Crock Scientist/HSO: Routing South East, direction. Time 2:30 Distance over 3km. Mission plan: close observation and sample collection for further analysis.
