Eva Date:

Time Slot:

Purpose:
There were two main objectives for this EVA.
First, we wanted to collect data on secondary stream beds that are
linked to the main one we are studying. Eventually, this will lead to
the improvement of the model before going on with the next step in the
experiment.
The second one was to serve as an intermediate for emergency
communications between the Hab and the second EVA team that was going
to an area where direct contact is difficult.
Narrative:
We left the Hab after decompression time with the other EVA team at
10:00. We headed North together until we reached the survey area for
the stream bed project where the second team left us to pursue their
own objectives further ahead.
We stayed in contact with them to be sure they were always able to
communicate with the Hab in case of an emergency as we had some
problems yesterday in the same zone because of the relief blocking the
signal.
Our first objective was to collect more data for the stream bed
project. We needed to take measurements in the secondary beds linked
to the main one to improve the quality of our model by evaluating the
secondary flows.
We headed back to the Hab when the second team gave us the signal that
they were also coming back.
On our way back to the Hab, we found some trash (empty bottles, cans,
plastic bag) laying around and decided to take it back with us to
clean up "analog Mars" of some human activities traces... As long as
it doesn't intervene with the simulation or our missions, we plan to
continue doing the same for the future EVA's.
