Journalist Report
03/06/2013 Wednesday (Mission Day 12)
Ayako Ono
The 12th day, sunny but windy Wednesday, was also a media day of
Belgian film crew. As commander suggested, this morning was started
with morning Nature Sounds, streaming water with twittering birds. For
the breakfast, I cooked scramble egg with mushroom and spinach, but
without spinach version and without mushroom as well, as there were
some requests. Then, I took shower for 2 minutes before media came.
Filming started with Csilla’s scientific research. Then, I was asked
to create Zen Garden outside. So, I wore EVA suits to show the
demonstration of the small Zen Garden, 1.5 x 2 m. Then, I got an
interview about Zen Garden. My late lunch was kindly kept for me,
although left over from yesterday. 4 crew members went to EVA, and I
was helping Matt’s experiment in this afternoon. Cooperation was well
done. Dinner was something like Japanese. I cooked brown rice, there
was no choice at this moment, for Inari zushi, a kind of sushi. Matt
and I consider a main dish suitable for Japanese, and he cooked
hydrated chopped beef, broccoli, and green beans with soy source and
sesame oil. The main dish tasted something like Japanese, and it was
good. In addition, I prepared vegetable soup with Japanese flavor.
Everybody liked this dinner, and I was happy about that. Matt’s hobby
at MDRS was actually cooking experiments, and he was happy when it was
successful. Matt also baked cinnamon apple raison bread today. Cooking
could also be an artistic experiment. Sometimes, an original recipe
looked like Martian rocks or something. Now, we have only three days
left, and doing our best with passions.
