Last Day
We started off the day later than usual, since we star gazed last night. Our wake up music was provided by our Astronomer that included, AC/DC, Electric Light Orchestra, Sheryl Crow, and others. Then for breakfast we had fresh coffee, oatmeal, and cereal. Our conversation over breakfast was about the beautiful, stunning stars that we saw last night. The night was clear and the telescope worked; with Brad’s leadership we saw Saturn and Jupiter.
After breakfast Liz, Brad, Jennifer, and Santiago went out on an eva to collect additional samples for Santiago’s research project. Me and Kyle stayed at the hab and worked on our research projects. They had a great eva with clear skies and amazing weather; returned just in time for dinner.
For dinner I made epic pancakes, which went great with the real syrup that was in the pantry. We all enjoyed dinner and discussed the eva. After dinner we each worked on our research projects, until supper. For supper Santiago and Kyle made lentils with mong beans and saffron. Then after supper Liz, Brad, Santiago, and Jennifer went to look at the stars at the observatory, while me and Kyle stayed at the hab. Then when they return, we will clean the hab.
It was another awesome day on Mars with food, research, and analysis. It is hard to believe that it has been only 7 days since our crew first arrived on Mars. We were warned about food, but we overcame that and made all kinds of awesome food and it has been an epic week. Tomorrow we hand over the hab to the Russian crew. It is such an amazing thing to be on Mars and I will go again in the future. J
