Narrative:
EVA 6A – Two-Wheeled (Series) EVA Emergency Transportation – Rough Terrain
Participants:
• Injured EVA crewmember: Andrea Lazarte (EV1)
• EVA First Responder Team (EFRT): Monica Abarca (EV6), Humberto De las Casas (EV5), Eiji Onchi (EV2), Saul Trujillo (EV4)
• Out-of-simulation: Alex Diaz
Timeline:
• 01:13pm – EFRT receives emergency call
• 01:17pm – EFRT arrival at emergency site
• 01:19pm – EV1 placed on stretcher in prone position
• 01:21pm – EFRT (4 crewmembers) begins transportation
• 01:25pm – EFRT team arrives at pressurized rover
Results: ERFT noted this was a challenging procedure because of difficult terrain, but feasible because of incorporated wheels. Patient noted that she was relatively stable.
EVA 6B – Two-Wheeled (Series) EVA Emergency Transportation – Medium Terrain
Participants:
• Injured EVA crewmember: Andrea Lazarte (EV1)
• EVA First Responder Team (EFRT): Monica Abarca (EV6), Humberto De las Casas (EV5), Eiji Onchi (EV2), Saul Trujillo (EV4)
• Out-of-simulation: Alex Diaz
Timeline:
• 01:54pm – EFRT receives emergency call
• 01:56pm – EFRT arrival at emergency site
• 01:57pm – EV1 placed on stretcher in prone position
• 01:58pm – EFRT (4 crewmembers) begins transportation
• 02:01pm – EFRT team arrives at pressurized rover
Results: EFRT noted this was more difficult because of 15deg slope and softer soil (i.e. sandy); person in front needed to lift stretcher to change direction.
EVA 6C – Two-Wheeled (Series) EVA Emergency Transportation – Flat Terrain
Participants:
• Injured EVA crewmember: Andrea Lazarte (EV1)
• EVA First Responder Team (EFRT): Monica Abarca (EV6), Humberto De las Casas (EV5), Eiji Onchi (EV2), Saul Trujillo (EV4)
• Out-of-simulation: Alex Diaz
Timeline:
• 02:28pm – EFRT receives emergency call
• 02:29pm – EFRT arrival at emergency site
• 02:30pm – EV1 placed on stretcher in prone position
• 02:31pm – EFRT (4 crewmembers) begins transportation
• 02:32pm – EFRT team arrives at pressurized rover
Results: EFRT noted this was the terrain was hard and easy to maneuver the stretcher in.
