Purpose:
Reconnaissance. Study of features of the geological structure around the base. Sampling for the characterization of the main selected layers. Sampling on the humidity in the most typical locations of water. Photographing areas for further geomorphological subdivision by type of relief.
Narrative:
Aleksandr and me left the Hab at 13:40 pm. We drove for about 3 minutes north of the Hab. When we arrived at the destination M-1-1, we examined the layers and take the sample. At the point we had about 20 min. At 14:05 we moved to the point M-1-2, where also examined the outcrop and took samples of rocks. We shoot some interesting photos that show some of the major geology processes at the area surrounding MDRS. At 14:35 we went to the point M-1-3, where took some photos, which will allow us to more accurately interpret geological structure. We spent there about 10 minutes and went to M-1-4 at 14:50. We found the dried river bed. After describing its basic elements and taking a few photos at the intersection of the creek and the road, we passed about 200 m upstream and inspected the area, then returned and selected a sample of the creek's bottom for moisture. After about 15 minutes we went on. We arrived to the M-1-5 at 15:15. We found traces of a seasonal water flow and dried waterfall. After taking a few photos for the subsequent geomorphic terrain typification we take a sample of soil from the bottom for moisture and pebbles for determining the mineral composition. At 15:25 we went back to the Hab.
