Purpose:
Reconnaissance. Study of features of the geological structure around the base. Sampling for the characterization of the main selected layers. Sampling of the humidity in the most typical locations of water. Photographing areas for further geomorphological subdivision by type of relief.
Narrative:
At 11:10 Ilya Chekh and I left the Hab and went to М-2-2. At 11:30 we found a dark-colored hummock. We found it has weak radioactivity. We took samples and photos there (М-2-1).
At 11:50 we arrived to М-2-2. We found inverse relief features there. These features were stretched along dried-up riverbeds. They consist of ridges of large pebbles (diameter of pebbles is up to 5 centimeters).
Also we found an outcrop (its height is up to 10 m). The outcrop consists of (from top to bottom) grey sandstone, grey conglomerates with 4 cm grains, light sandstone, red aleurolites, and beige argillites. Photos and samples were taken.
At 12:30 we arrived to М-2-3. Here we saw a small dried-up riverbed. The outcrop consists of (from top to bottom) light aleurolites with fossils and gypsum crystals, and red argillites. Samples were taken. Also we found dried up puddles with evaporated salt.
Then we returned to the Hab as the two-hour EVA period expired.
