Time departed/returned from EVA: #2
Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results:
EVA #1 Unscheduled two person EVA to recover disabled rover. The crew tried to revive the rover onsite, but subsequently determined that the batteries failed because of the cold conditions. The crew stayed within 20 m of the Hab and reported walking was difficult and very slippery thus limiting their activities. Film crews were in attendance for this event.
EVA #2
Engineering/Hab maintenance: All normal.
Packages delivered to the Hab: Full tank of propane was delivered early this morning.
Plans for tomorrow: A four person pedestrian EVA to Teetering rock area going counterclockwise from the Hab ending up in an area close to possible petrified tree stumps found on earlier EVA’s. This is a rescheduled EVA due to today’s weather conditions.
Support requests: None
Miscellaneous: Nicholas Steiner and his film crew have been on location with us part of the day. We were surprised at their visit because of the (we thought) treacherous road conditions. Yes, they did report bad conditions in transit. Because of the heavy rain and snow from last night, I determined conditions for today were too dangerous to go off site and canceled todays EVA.
