Magic Item Creation
DC to create a magic item is 5 + the caster level for the item. Failure check means that the item does not function and the materials and time are wasted. Failing this check by 5 or more results in a cursed item.
Magic supplies = half the base price in gp + cost for components if any.
Time = 8 hours per 1,000gp in the item’s base cost
- exception scrolls and potions that cost 250gp or less, take only 2 hours
- Can create only 1 magic item per day and only on one item at a time.
- Speed process to 4 hours per 1,000gp but DC increases +5
- Caster can only work 8 hours per day.
Crystals (Tommy creation)
Required Feat: Constitute Crystal (Dwarf, Wis 15, Cleric)
Skills used: Spellcraft or Craft (alchemy), or Craft (jewelry)
- Need consecrated, naturally forming, crystal cavern with water supply
- Cost 25gp x level of the spell x level of the caster x 1.5
- Requires minimum 2 days to form a crystal
Magic Armor
Required Feat: Craft Magic Arms and Armor
Skills used: Spellcraft or Craft (armor)
- Need a heat source, iron, wood, or leatherworking tools & materials
- Caster level must be at least 3x the “+” value of the armor being created
- Must have at least a “+1” bonus to have other special qualities
- Cost 150gp (masterwork) + value of weapon + ½ base price of item
- Requires 1 day per 1,000gp value of the base price
Magic Weapons
Required Feat: Craft Magic Arms and Armor
Skills used: Spellcraft, Craft (bows)(for magic bows and arrows), or Craft (weapons)(for all other weapons)
- Need a heat source, iron, wood, or leatherworking tools & materials
- Caster level must be at least 3x the “+” value of the armor being created
- Must have at least a “+1” bonus to have other special qualities
- Must determine if weapon glows or not upon creation
- Double-headed weapons is treated as two weapons
- Cost 300gp (masterwork) + value of weapon + ½ base price of item
- Requires 1 day per 1,000gp value of the base price
Potions
Required Feat: Brew Potion
Skills used: Spellcraft or Craft (alchemy)
- Needs level working surface and at least a few containers in which to mix liquids, as well as a source of heat to boil the brew
- Cost 25gp x level of the spell x level of the caster
- Requires 1 day to brew a potion
Rings
Required Feat: Forge Ring
Skills used: Spellcraft or Craft (jewelry)
- Needs a heat source.
- Rings that duplicate spells with an expensive spell component add 50 x spell component cost.
- Requires 1 day per 1,000gp value of the base price to forge a ring
Rods
Required Feat: Craft Rod
Skills used: Spellcraft or Craft (jewelry), Craft (sculptures) or Craft (weapons)

- Requires 1 day for each 1,000gp of the base price.
Scrolls
Required Feat: Scribe Scroll
Skills used: Spellcraft or Craft (calligraphy), or Profession (scribe)
- Need a supply of choice writing materials
- Cost 12.5gp x level of the spell x level of the caster
- Requires 1 day per 1,000gp of the base price
- No more than 1 spell can be scribed per day
Staves
Required Feat: Craft Staff
Skills used: Spellcraft or Craft (jewelry), Craft (sculptures) or Profession (woodcutter)
- 400gp x the level of the highest-level spell x the level of the caster, plus 75% of the value of the most costly ability (300gp x the level of the spell x the level of the caster), plus ½ the value of any other abilities (200go x the level of the spell x the level of the caster)
- Staves are always fully charged (10 charges) when created
- All staves must have a caster level of at least 8th
- Crafting a staff requires 1 day for each 1,000gp of the base price.
Wands
Required Feat: Craft Wand
Skills used: Spellcraft or Craft (jewelry), Craft (sculptures) or Profession (woodcutter)
- 375gp x the level of the spell x the level of the caster.
- Wands are fully charged (50 charges) when created
- Wands that duplicate spells with an expensive spell component add 50 x spell component cost.
- Crafting a wand requires 1 day per each 1,000gp of the base price.
Wondrous Items

- Crafting a wondrous item requires 1 day for each 1,000gp of the base price.
Adding New Abilities
The cost to add additional abilities to an item is the same as if the item was not magical, less the value of the original item. i.e. Making a +1 longsword a +2 vorpal sword would be the cost of the +2 vorpal sword minus the value of the +1 longsword 98,000-2,315 = 95,685gp. Would require 96 days to create.
If the item is one that occupies a specific place on a character’s body, the cost of adding any additional ability to that item increases by 50%. For example, if a character adds the power to confer invisibility to her ring of protection +2, the cost of adding this ability is the same as for creating a ring of invisibility multiplied by 1.5.
