Raden was a wonder to the great powers that had created it. The sea, created by Aluhs, lapped upon the shore of mother earth brought into being by the great earth god, Alarant. Rays of light spread from Fineral and Soleral's fiery fingers and reflect back upon the droplets of water falling from the storm clouds of Taris.
After the foundations of the land and sea had been settled, night fell revealing the silver orb of Relunar dangling in the night sky. When the suns' light would shine again, Kahrill would begin his work.
Upon dawn's first light, the god of life set to work. His hands created thousands and thousands of creatures that spread across the world. Creatures that could breath the water swam to the depths of the sea. Beings with wings fluttered to the peaks of the highest mountains. His power of life spread far and wide.
With the help of his brother, Alarant, Kahrill then created the plants. Together, they filled the face of the world with life-bringing vegetation. Food for the creatures and food for the atmosphere.
It was then that one god stepped forth, a being in bright silvery robes. From his soul, he plucked a sliver of light. With it, he formed the first intelligent creature who could alter the world around them, Derenzin Corelniron. After teaching this creature all he knew about life, nature, and the rest of the world, he created similar creatures to accompany him. He had created a race known as Selinae, the elves. These creatures worshiped the god, Lorimar, as he is known and he gave then all of his love and power, magic, as it came to be known.
With the creation of the elves, other gods became resentful of Lorimar's interference and jealous of the power he gained from the worship of the sentient beings. They objected to the ultimate being for guidance and rectification, expecting Lorimar's creatures to be removed from Raden. Instead, the ultimate power was not only pleased with Lorimar's initiative, it also granted him reign over all magic that would exist on the world.
Many of the gods were angered with the decision, but others took it as a chance to flex their own creativity. Other creatures began to populate the world. Alarant created gnomes, a race of creatures who dwell in the earth. Styrden, God of Strength, created dwarves, a stocky race who revel in the show of strength of body and structure.
These creatures, though different in appearance, lived harmoniously. They learned from each other different aspects of existence. The dwarves were masters of the rock of the mountains in which they resided and built great structures of stone. The elves were wielders of magic. They showed the ways of Lorimar. The gnomes, creatures of great intelligence took from both the dwarves and the elves combining ideas to build upon their own needs and desires.
For one hundred years they existed in peace, that is, until the humanoids suddenly appeared. From cracks in the earth they came. By hundres, creatures of Xellix of foul form and bodies twiasted with taut muscles started scourging the world. Goblins they came to be known by. They destroyed all that lie in their path. Elves, dwarves, and gnomes fell in their path for they knew not how to defend themselves against the onslaught of the violent creatures.
With each passing day, more creatures even more foul that the goblins began to wreak havoc. Darker gods have been blamed for the creation, but to this day, the elves do not know exactly which god the ogres, orcs, trolls, and giants may call their creator. These misshapen creatures threw themselves against the three races with intent to obliterate them. Lorimar, seeing his children in peril, taught the elves how to defend themselves by use of magic. Alarant showed the gnomes how to use the strength of the dwarves and the minerals in the earth to forge weapons to fight against the natural weaponry of the monsters.
The battle raged for another hundred years and covered the expanse of Raden. Even though the three races eventually won and dispersed the huge army of evil, they were torn in the aftermath. The dwarves wanted to continue to wage the war and slay all of the evil. The gnomes agreed, but would only if all three agreed to fight on. The elves, the most depleted by the war, were tired of fighting. They wanted to live in peace and believed that the threat of the disorganized, limited intelligence monsters would not pose a threat.
These differences led to split in the races. The dwarves became hostile toward the elves for not following their plan. Wanting the secrets to the magic the elves possessed, the dwarves demanded they be taught its secrets. The elves refused. Infuriated, the dwarves began a war against the elves. Many more elves and dwarves perished, but the dwarves propagated much quicker. The gnomes remained neutral.
Eventually, the elves, their numbers dwindled, retreated to secluded areas of the world. The foremost is the Selinae Wood. It is here that the elves have lived in seclusion from the outside world. There are tales of elves leaving the safety of the Selinae Woods and have settled deep within the boughs of other forests around the world.
Secluded in the Selinae, the elves, led by King Derenzin Corelniron, have concentrated their magic to protect themselves from discovery by outsiders. they have also devoted their lives to life and the preservation of he wilderness that provides them with a combination of beauty and anonymity.
