Constitute Crystal (Item Creation)
You have learned the dwarven art of capturing magic in naturally forming crystals.
Prerequisite: Dwarf Race, Wisdom 15, Cleric Class, You must have a consecrated naturally forming crystal cavern with a water supply to begin crystal formation.
Benefit: You are able to capture any level spell that can normally be cast upon yourself inside a crystal with the same process, but with a 50% increase in cost and twice as long to create.
Crystals are administered orally and have to be bitten or dissolve to activate. They can last 1d4+1 rounds if placed in a user’s mouth before the crystal dissolves and releases its stored magic. It is a swift action to bite down on a crystal if it is already in one’s mouth.
If the user is in combat and either strikes another in combat with a melee weapon or takes any type of damage they must make a Survival check with a DC of 5 + damage dealt or taken. If they fail their check by less than 5, they activate the magic of the crystal by biting down. If they fail by more than 5, they swallow the crystal and it won’t activate until its 1d4+1 rounds have passed.
Spellcasters cannot cast verbal spells with crystals in their mouth unless they make a Spellcraft check DC 20 + spell level. Dwarf Cleric’s check is a Spellcraft check DC 10 + Spell Level. If they fail their check, they lose the spell they were casting. If they fail their check by less than 5, they activate the magic of the crystal by biting down. If they fail by more than 5, they swallow the crystal and it won’t activate until its 1d4+1 rounds have passed.
