It is rumored that an ancient black dragon, Blackmarsh, enslaved kobolds and was able to use its magic to alter them to do his bidding. He was a covetous dragon that wished to gain much treasure from the lands around, both above and below ground. So, the Black Kobolds were created. A race that flourishes in the dark and use their skills to sneak and delve into lairs and caverns, the Black Kobolds have supposedly filled Blackmarsh's caverns with mountains of treasure. It is rumored that several of these Black Kobolds have been set off into the world to seek more and more treasure, and some have bred and their kin have not returned to Blackmarsh, but have reported back to the dragon via a network of spies.
