Panel 1:

Marc and John, common room.

John Blague: In Unix, data is moved between files in data "streams". Each file usually has three: One in, one out and one for error messages.

Panel 2:

John Blague: But they don't have to go directly to other files. You can cross-connect them, for example in order to chain up programs.

Panel 3:

John Blague: Useful for programming and ghostbusting alike!
