Commentary

This is not meant as offensive to infertile people, intersex people, amputees or any combination of those. That would be pretty much the opposite of what I wanted to convey through panel three, beyond a joke about averages (with the punchline technically in panel two). The message there isn't targeted only at those people either, in spite of addressing them directly.

Since this is a math-based str'p, I considered having Jane do it rather than Krixwell, but Krixwell has the bonuses of being able to break the fourth wall (and therefore having someone to say it to, namely the readers), and having a readily available blackboard-that-is-still-green. Also, Jane might nitpick that the colloquial definition of "average" refers specifically to the arithmetic mean (i.e. this), while mathematically the word can also refer to some other ways to get a centralized value. It's in character for Krixwell to do this too, but I, and therefore he, didn't know that until I was close to finishing this str'p. Which I guess means Jane couldn't do it either, but it'd be even more in character for her to know that.

Even though I intentionally avoided having Krixwell mention the half-and-half genitals, I at one point considered trying to draw them on the blackboard. I don't know what that says about me, but I'm sure you can see why I decided against that pretty quickly.
