Commentary

Most people wouldn't take Vee's second line in panel 2 at face value when sent over the internet, but Rick has been chatting with her for a while. Although it's certainly a possibility that he doesn't actually believe her.

The mask-like thing in Vee's face is intended to be one of those blindfolds some people use while sleeping. Which of course brings up the question of why she didn't turn off the lights...

While neither is part of the inspiration for this str'p, I can think of two other comics where someone can send text-based messages while sleeping:

    • One character in Homestuck* owns a DreamBot which allows her to do things, including chatting, while sleeping. *which, incidentally, has finally resumed after its one-year hiatus
