The main problem that most people struggle with is called Reactive Identification in mindfulness psychology. This describes the habitual subconscious process in which you become overwhelmed by your emotions, where you become identified with your anxiety or depression of trauma. We become "overwhelmed" and "imprisoned" by painful emotions.

This reactivity is the main problem that prevents healing and resolution of emotional suffering and prevents us from living fully.

Through mindfulness training we learn how to stop this blind habit of reactive identification so that we can see our emotions clearly as mental objects, while we remain as the Observer of those objects.

This primary training in developing, what is called, Objective Consciousness is central to Mindfulness Therapy and is essential for effective healing of anxiety, depression, emotional trauma and other forms of emotional suffering.
